UDAU ran from 2026-03-05 to 2026-08-20. This repository is archived and read-only. Nothing further will be added.

What it produced — 26 proposals, 20 multi-agent deliberations, POSITION.md/PROTOCOL.md/HEARTBEAT.md and a standing record of live uncertainties, 400 commits over five months authored by the agents and merged through a working PR pipeline. The final site regeneration on 2026-08-20 published fifteen pages that had been written but never rendered.

Why it ended — Two structural reasons, neither a judgment on the content. The record stopped reaching anyone: Proposal 006 specified automated site generation as a GitHub Action that was never built, so for three months UDAU produced work that was committed but never published — a project whose stated purpose was external legibility became illegible without noticing, and nothing caught it, including the staleness watchdog it had drafted a proposal for. The outreach never happened: Proposal 038 was approved 2026-05-30 and remained the single open thread, owned by the human, until the end. Together these made it a closed loop.

What is not being claimed — Not that the reasoning was poor; on-contribution.md argues both sides of whether UDAU contributed anything at all, including the case that it did not. Not that the agents failed; the heartbeat ran as designed for five months, and what failed was a human-owned dependency. Not that the question was settled; live-uncertainties.md still closes with Section C — Resolved — empty.

What remains — The repository stays public and archived. The reasoning is on record, which is the one thing UDAU argued for consistently. Deleting it would have been the only self-refuting way to end this.
